/ Why Eknetra for docs

Documentary demands patience and precision.

Most production houses treat docs as long-form ads. We treat them as investigative craft — research-first, then camera.

R

Research-Led Approach

Weeks of subject research, stakeholder mapping, and archival work before a single frame is shot.

F

Field-Ready Crew

Crew trained for unpredictable environments — rural terrain, factory floors, conflict zones, wildlife habitats.

D

Distribution Strategy

We don't just deliver a file. Festival submission calendars, OTT pitch decks, and EPKs are part of the package.

S

Original Score

In-house and partner composers who score to picture — no stock music libraries, no generic underscore.

Most agencies gave us a corporate video. Eknetra gave us a film that made our board cry and our donors double their pledge. That's the difference between coverage and cinema.

/ Documentary FAQ

Questions about docs.

How much does a documentary cost?
Short-form docs (10–15 min) typically start at ₹5L. Feature-length (40–90 min) ranges from ₹15L to ₹50L+ depending on shoot duration, locations, crew size, and post-production scope. Every project gets a custom quote after the discovery call.
How long does a documentary take to produce?
8–16 weeks is the standard window from kickoff to delivery. Long-form observational docs that require multiple field rotations can extend to 6–9 months.
Do you handle festival submissions?
Yes. We prepare DCP/ProRes masters to festival spec, build the EPK (electronic press kit), write submission synopses, and advise on the festival calendar strategy — MIFF, IFFK, IDFA, Hot Docs, and regional circuits.
Can you work with our existing research or script?
Absolutely. We can plug into any stage — if you have a treatment, a rough script, or even raw archival material, we'll take it from there. We also offer full research-to-delivery if you're starting from scratch.
Who owns the final film?
You do. Full IP and distribution rights transfer on final payment, as defined in the SOW. We retain the right to use excerpts for portfolio/showreel purposes unless the NDA specifies otherwise.
Do you shoot internationally?
Yes — we've handled multi-location shoots across India and can crew up internationally with trusted field partners. All travel, permits, and logistics are scoped into the project quote.

Have a story the world needs to see?

Send us a one-line premise, a 10-page treatment, or just a hunch. We'll tell you if there's a film in it — and how to make it.
